She has created over a hundred ballets for 86 dance companies worldwide, including the Dutch National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, English National Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Paris Opera Ballet’s Junior Company, and New York City Ballet, among many others.
In 2019, she was appointed Program Director of the Contemporary Ballet Summer Program at The School at Jacob’s Pillow. Described by Dance Magazine’s Wendy Perron as “one of the world’s busiest choreographers,” Lopez Ochoa is also one of the few female choreographers to excel in the field of full-length narrative ballet. To date, she has created fifteen narrative works, including Frida, Coco Chanel: The Life of a Fashion Icon, and Callas, La Divina. In March 2026, she will premiere her newest full-length ballet, Gentleman Jack, for Northern Ballet—a production that was awarded the prestigious Fedora Dance Prize. Beginning with the 2025/26 season, Lopez Ochoa has been appointed as Resident Choreographer of the Dortmund Ballet in Germany.
