KRISTEN TEETER

KRISTEN TEETER has proudly been involved in the professional dance community for over 30 years now. Her early exposure to dance began growing up in Japan, Hawaii and San Diego as an extension to her training as a competitive gymnast. This led to the pursuit of a dance degree from California State University, Fullerton where she graduated with Honors and then went on to continue her professional dance training and performance journeys in Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago. She has since choreographed, taught and performed at all levels throughout the United States, including work with programs at Webster University, Northwestern University, Vineyard Arts, COCA, Gateway Center for Performing Arts, Capital City Theatre, and Kristin Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp. An avid mentor to youth seeking careers in dance and musical theatre, she and her husband, Lara Teeter, regularly consult students nationwide and also created the Beyond the Performance Workshop in St. Louis, providing week long intensives to area youth via master classes with Broadway performers, casting directors and New York City talent agents. In addition, Kristen has spent over the last decade building the dance program at Nerinx Hall High School where she has proudly grown the program from one class with 8 students to multiple classes serving over 100 students each school year. As this is her last year with Nerinx, she is incredibly grateful for the partnership created with St. Louis Dance Theatre and the wonderful opportunities it affords the Nerinx students. She looks forward to watching it grow as she passes the baton to former STLDT Trainee member Jennifer Egley who will take over the Nerinx dance program next year.
